SINGAPORE, October 22 (Tam Theory) - Many plus-sized women struggle to find clothing that
flatters their body type, is well-designed, and is reasonably priced.

However, one woman strove to solve these problems for Singapore’s plus-sized community.

Today Lynn Bakri, the Creative Director of Jane Watson, announced plans to open a physical
store in Singapore this November.

“We are looking for a shop space, and we have identified a few areas,” Bakri said.

The label launched in March 2013 and has been operating solely online since then.

The shop space will allow customers to browse the brand’s new ready-to-wear collection, as well
as attend custom-design appointments with Bakri.

The ready-to-wear collection will also be available on Jane Watson’s newly-renovated website this fall.

Bakri attributes the success of her brand to her customized designs.

“When I first started the brand, I was the first plus-size designer that does customization,” Bakri said.

“For a price of 250 [Singaporean] dollars, you can get something that is designed and tailored right
to your size. So that was my selling point.”

In addition to being the creative director, Bakri also runs Jane Watson’s social media.

She advises independent designers to market their brands genuinely to their target community.

“The brand itself has been built on the fact that it is my brand, my name, and my face. I would
probably say that 100 percent of my customers are able to relate, since whatever I posted comes
from a true person,” Bakri said.

In the digital age, it is rare for an online-based brand to aspire to open a physical store.

But Bakri has proven - from her affordable designs to her genuine social media approach - that she
is not afraid to make a novel mark in the fashion world.
